City website redesign
The city will advertise an RFP to redesign its website with a focus on mobile usability; proposals are due January 6 and a team led by Josh McCoy will screen them.
Holiday and national advertising campaigns
Two ad agreements were on the table: $7,000 with Lamar Advertising for Holly Jolly Holidays and $5,000 with Miles Partnership for a Times Square billboard. Together that's $12,000 in tourism marketing spending.
New grocery store at Oxford Commons
A 40,100-square-foot grocery store and retail building are coming to Ed Perry Boulevard at Oxford Commons, with special exceptions and site plan both approved. Deliveries run weekdays 6 a.m.–2 p.m., none on Sundays.
Visit Oxford tourism program
The tourism office laid out its FY27 plan: a new welcome center and digital kiosk, a 'Wish You Are Here' ad campaign, and partnership grants that returned $10.3 million in visitor spending on a $104,350 investment.
Gameday Parking Overhaul on the Square
The plan to replace ~200 single-space meters with 112 multi-space meters downtown hit a wall: only one qualified bid came in and it was over budget. The board rejected the bids and staff will pitch an alternate plan at the January 26 work session.
New restaurant and cocktail lounge at Oxford Square North
A new restaurant and cocktail lounge is coming to the old Growler tenant space inside Oxford Square North, with a fold-up service window opening onto the interior courtyard. The building is modern and noncontributing, so the change was uncontroversial.
Downtown parking meter modernization
About 300 aging single-space meters downtown will be replaced by 30 multi-space meters and 12 upgraded kiosks. IPS was selected from four proposals; a contract comes back to the board later.
